Sunbaker Photographic Print

Sunbaker is a 1937 black and white photograph by Australian modernist photographer, Max Dupain. Described as quintessentially Australian, the photograph depicts the head and shoulders of a man lying on the beach. The photograph was taken of Dupain's friend, Harold Salvage, on Culburra Beach in New South Wales. The image gained attention throughout the 1970's and was later purchased by the National Gallery of Australia where the original still hangs today. The image sits in a natural black timber frame and has a glass front.
